“He kotuku rerenga tahi” – “a white heron’s flight is seen but once”
“For example when the queen came to NZ on the wahine Disaster carats”
A whakatauki or proverb which is used to indicate a very special and rare event and is also applied to visitors of importance to compare a visitor to a kotuku is meant as a high compliment.
